The other rooms
The control: four authorial centres
“Pink is not always Waters; Waters is not always Pink Floyd.”
Barrett, Waters, Gilmour and Wright are four separate authorial centres and the investigation refuses to merge them. Neither may the absences be collapsed into one villain. This is the discipline the rest of the series inherited: a catalogue is not one voice just because it carries one name.
The same rule governs the symbols. Repetition alone does not make every animal the same operator. Context controls the symbol.
On the dramatic sequences
The Wall’s fascist sequence is performed by a character in collapse. It is depiction, not endorsement, and it is never quoted here as the author speaking.
