A Mind Only Works When It’s Open

No one should be ridiculed for asking a question, sharing an interpretation, or seeing something differently.

Some ideas may seem outlandish. Other interpretations may challenge long-held beliefs. Still others may turn out to be mistaken. Every participant deserves the chance to explain their reasoning without being mocked or personally attacked.

Respect the person. Challenge the interpretation. Examine the evidence.

How we investigate together

  1. Ask questions, including difficult and unconventional questions, in good faith.
  2. Disagree with ideas without humiliating or insulting the person expressing them.
  3. Separate historical documentation, artistic interpretation, personal experience, and speculation.
  4. Bring sources where possible and welcome corrections when evidence changes.
  5. Do not use an open mind as a demand that others accept a claim without evidence.
  6. Respect privacy. Do not publish personal information or someone else’s email without their permission.

Reader Reviews & Challenges

We welcome book reviews, questions about Rush and other artists, challenges to specific interpretations, and suggestions for further research. Critical responses are welcome. Public submissions will be reviewed before publication; the dedicated review form is not yet active.

For now, readers who received an Inside War email can reply directly with their thoughts. Responses will not be posted publicly without permission.

“Minds are like parachutes: they only function when they are open.”

An older proverb often attributed to Frank Zappa; printed versions predate his birth, so we do not present it as an authenticated Zappa quotation.
