Investigation 07 · The methodological keystone

Tool

The first subject that cross-examines itself. Nearly every apparent revelation is followed by a destabilising device — a joke, a distorted voice, a compromised speaker, an explicit warning about projection. Tool supplies its own controls.

Archived, case files not yet written for the web. Nine releases from the 72826 demo through Opiate² are complete in the archive, with zero lyrics reproduced. The public write-up is pending.

Why this one validates the method

The first investigations trace recurring language across catalogues. Tool is the catalogue that polices the investigator — it demonstrates the method from inside the art, which is why it sits as the methodological keystone of the series.

The endpoint is not Third Eye as final revelation. It is Opiate² as final warning. This is not a march from darkness into enlightenment. The false guide never disappears, because the human appetite for certainty never disappears.

What the investigation refuses

  • Two targets are left deliberately unassigned. They stay unassigned here.
  • Fear Inoculum is not a COVID prophecy — the claim is chronologically unsound and is rejected in the archive.
  • Every track carries a stated restraint / alternate reading.
